Secret Espers

Just like in Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII has it's fair share of hidden summons. Final Fantasy XII has a total of eight hidden Espers, some very difficult to get, some not so but like with Belias you must fight a secret Esper before that Esper appears on the License Board.

Adrammelech
Adrammelech EsperAdrammelech is the first secret Esper you have the chance to fight, he can be found roughly fifteen hours into the game, just after obtaining the Dawn Shard. He is found during the 'Paying for the Past' side quest in the Athroza Quicksands that is located within the Zerithan Caverns, Ozmone Plain.

Adrammelech has 39,630 HP and is a flying, Thunder esper. This means that it is quite obviously best to use Blizzard spells against him, but also use ranged weapons for all of your characters because they have an increased chance of actually hitting Adrammelech. Adrammelech's most powerful attack is Thundaja, however this move also inflicts the Stop status on all the characters it hits, so it's important to carry plenty of Remedies into this battle with you!

As usual casting both Shell and Reflect on all your party members comes in very handy, as well as making sure you have someone that's Gambit's have them constantly healing other party members with Cure magick. And remember, the best method of dealing high amounts of damage is the use Mist Quickenings!

Cuchulainn
Cuchulainn EsperAfter obtaining the Sluice Gate Key by completing the 'Waterway Haunting' and 'Lost in the Pudding' side quests you can access a sealed area in the Garamsythe Waterway.

Head straight to the Central Waterway Control, and use the Sluice Gate Key to operate the waterway controls, this however must be done in the following order:
• Close No. #3 and No. #10
• Go to the No. #3 Cloaca Spur and activate the No. #1 South Waterway Control
• Go back to the Central Waterway Control then open No. #3 and No. #10
• Close No. #4 and No. #11, then go to the No. #4 Cloaca Spur and activate No. #1 North Waterway Control
• Head back to the Central Waterway Control and activate No. #3 then #11
• Finish up by entering the No. #1 Cloaca Spur, which is where you will find Cuchulainn

Cuchulainn is quite a lot stronger than Adrammelech, mainly because of his Poison element. As soon as this battle begins you will have Sap inflicted on you, and later will face an onslaught of Disabling attacks, which will stop your characters repeating the previous move.

I recommend having your characters Gambits set so that they constantly heal one another, meaning that your health constantly stays high. And if you see your MP getting low you can either wait for it to recover and hope you don't get killed or switch your active party members but don't be afraid to use an Ether (if you have any).

Casting Dispel on Cuchulainn comes in very handy, because it will get rid of all those protective status' which he has protecting him, speaking of protecting status' it wouldn't do your party any harm to have Shell and Protect guarding them. Cuchulainn has a much higher HP of 126,165, so Quickenings are pretty much an essential strategy, unless you are trying to savour your MP throughout the battle.
